Breaking Camp/Journeying Order

This is the order as described in Number 10:13 – 28, as to how the Children of Israel were to break camp.

1. Judah, Issachar, Zebulen (the east side of the Tabernacle)
2. The Tabernacle was taken down, then journeyed the sons of Gershon and the sons of Merari, the bearers of the Tabernacle.
3. Reuben, Simeon, Gad (the south side of the Tabernacle)
4. Then the Kohathites bearers of the sanctuary (the contents of the holy of holies); and they would erect the Tabernacle before their arrival.
5. Ephraim, Manasseh, Benjamin (the west side of the Tabernacle)
6. Dan, Asher, Napthali (the north side of the Tabernacle); also known as the rear guard of all the camps.
