Parashas Bereishis – Chapters 1 & 2
First Day:
On the first day we see that darkness and emptiness cover the earth. A Divine Presence hovered upon the waters and YHVH said, ‘Let there be light’ and there was light. YHVH saw that the light was good and YHVH separated between the light and the darkness. YHVH called to the light ‘Day’ and to the darkness he called ‘Night’. And there was evening and morning one day.
WHOA! There is a lot mentioned here and there’s a lot of important things that YHVH not only has revealed to us but established or re-established in just these 5 verses of Chapter 1.
Now what was the sin found in HaSatan, pride and self, Isaiah 14:11-15 . He put his will above YHVH’s will and fell. Resulting in a war in heaven. (See Rev 12:3-4, 7-9.
Those that followed Helel fell also, leaving their first estate and being placed in darkness. ( See Jude 1:6) And the angels which keep not their first estate but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. Yeshua says in Luke 10:18, that He beheld Satan as lighting fall from heaven.
Resulting in YHVH sending them into darkness resulting in the deep being upon the face of the earth. 2 peter 2:4-5, For if YHVH spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment. Ezekiel 26:19 When I shall bring up the deep upon thee, and great waters shall cover thee;
Darkness according to the strongs [2821] with holding light; hide
Day Two:
On the second day we see that a firmament was created to separate the water and water. The waters above the firmament were called Heaven. Firmament is a great expanse. That’s the definition that I found in the dictionary. Here we see another separate being done. First we see the separation between light and darkness. Second we see a separation in the midst of the water. Between water and water. What is this water. We see the water was upon the surface of the deep. This water appears to be what’s now left after the light and darkness. So one of the waters represents the spiritual “light” water and other the spiritual “night or darkness” water. Since water typically always represents spirit in some way we know that YHVH is further separating the spirit of light and the spriti of darkness, with the Firmament of Heaven in the middle of the waters. Thus establishing a spiritual boundary between the two.
Day Three:
On the first day the waters beneath heaven were gatherd into one area. Letting the dry land appear. The dry land was called Earth and the gathered waters were called seas. YHVH let earth sprout vegetation, herbage yielding seed, fruit trees yield fruit each after its kind, containing its won seed on earth.
Day four:
Luminaries are created, in the firmament of heave to separate between day and night. They shall serve as signs and for festivals and for days and years. And they shall serve as luminaries to shine upon the earth. The greater luminary is to rule the day and lesser to rule the night., and there were also to separate between light and darkness.
So now we see the sun, moon and stars are created. 3 days after the initial light given on day one, and one day after the trees and herbage was sprouted on the earth. 2 Peter 3:8…a day is with the Lord as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day.
Day five:
Waters of the seas, were to teem with living creatures and the fowl were to fly over the earth across the expanse of the heaves. YHVH greated the sea giants and every living being that creeps. Waters teemed after their kinds and all winged fowl fo every kind. He blessed them and told them to “be fruitful and multiply” filling the waters, and fowl to increase on the earth.
Day Six:
He brought forth living creatures according to their kind, animals, creeping thing, and beasts of the land. Animal, I would imagine are like raccoons and dogs and cats, Creeping things, are our insects and bugs and spiders, and finally beasts of the land, the larger land animals, horses, sheeps goats, deer elks.
Chapter Two:
Day Seven:
YHVH finished all of His work. He abstained from work on the seventh day and rested. He sanctified it, set it apart from the other six days. Establishing the first festivals of YHVH. He created man and showed him how to rest. The seventh day is a day of rest, but let’s look at this realistically. YHVH could have created the entire 6 days in a mere second. So what is the rest that YHVH is showing us. When we rest in the 7th day with him, we are resting from the darkness. He did not abolish the darkness from the earth, that he separated on the 1st and 2nd days. He gave us a day to be completely protected from the darkness, and only surrounded by His light. Giving us a glimpse of when He will obliterate darkness, and showing us weekly how it will be in Rev 22:5.
Then the 2nd and 3rd days are recapped showing us how and why Man was created. When YHVH planted the garden in
Man role and duties were established. YHVH took Adam to the garden and he was to work it and guard it. This meant he was to protect it also. He gave him his clean vs unclean guideslines. He could eate of every tree but the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, saying that if he did he would surely die.
YHVH knows that man isn’t to be alone that he needs a helper corresponding to him. He created all of the birds and animals and brought them to Adam and Adam would name the living creatures and that would remain their name. Adam saw that he had no helper corresponding to him, like all of the animals he had named. YHVH placed a deep sleep on him and took one of his sides and filled in it with flesh. He brought the woman to Adam, and Adam said, “this time it is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh. This shall be called ‘Woman’ (eeshah, in Hebrew meaning wife, woman, female) for from man was she taken.
Adam saw himself in his Wife. Woman later called Eve or Chavah, was the only creature not directly created from the ground. She was directly from Adam to correspond to him to help him and assist him. YHVH established marriage, a man shall leave his father and his mother and cling to his wife and they shall become one flesh. Woman was automatically one flesh with Adam because she was directly from his bones and flesh. They were both naked, the man and his wife, and they were not ashamed.
