Death in the Pot

2 Kings 4:38 – 40

“Elisha then returned to Gilgal, and there was a famine in the land. The prophets’ disciples were sitting before him. He said to his attendant, ‘Put up the large pot and cook a stew for the prophets disciples.’ One of them went out to the field to gather herbs; he came across a vine in the field and picked [enough] from it [and from the] wild mushrooms [around it] to fill up his garment. He came and cut [them] into the pot of stew, for they did not recognize [these fruits]. They poured it out for the men to eat, and it happened as they ate the soup, they shouted; they said, ‘There is death in the pot O man of God!’ and they could not eat. Elisha said, ‘Get some flour!’ and he threw it into the pot; and he said, ‘Pour for the people and let them eat’; and there was no longer anything harmful in the pot.”

Elisha (God is Salvation) returned to Gilgal (rolling) and there was a famine(spiritual deficiency) in the land. All that I can gather is that salvation removed the effects of the strange fruit (unrecognized fruit) from the stew. The flour represents bread, or the word of God and now the stew was no longer harmful to the people. The death (unrecognized fruit) was removed because the word removed the uncleanliness (death) from the pot.
