CRP – Day 19: Genesis 22 – 24

Chapter 22:

YHVH tested Abraham by taking Isaac his only son and offering him up as an offering.
Isaac asks Abraham where the ram is for the offering.  Abraham tells Isaac that God will seek out the lamb for the offering. (Verse 8),
Abraham does not withhold Isaac. The angel stop Abraham from harming Isaac. A ram is caught in the thicket by its horns.  Abraham offers up the ram. 
Abraham calls the name of the place YHVH YIREH — “YHVH will be seen”.
YHVH further blesses Abraham, and increases his offspring even more.
The genealogy of Rebecca is given.
Chapter 23:
Sarah dies at 127 years old.  Abraham negotiates a burial plot with the Hittites. He picks the Cave of Macpelah. Sarah died in Kiriath-Arba “city of four”, its also know as Hebron.  Abraham pays 400 silver pieces for the burial place.
Chapter 24: 
Abraham arranges an oath with his servant to find a wife for Isaac, and into from the Caananite women but from his family.  The servant asks whether he should take Isaac back to where Abraham was from IF  the woman chooses not to leave with him.  he said if the woman chooses not to leave with the servant then the servant is absolved from the oath. Abraham tells the servant that an angel of YHVH will go before him.
Verse 12:
‘And he said, “YHVH, Elohim of my master Abraham, may you so arrange it for me this day that You do kindness with my master Abraham.”
Rebecca comes out and she gives water to Abraham servant, she offers to water the camels also Andy co iTunes to do so until all the camels have drank.  The servant asks who daughter is she and she tells him she’s the daughter of Bethuel, the son of Milcah whom she bore to Nahor.
Verse 27:
‘He said, “Blessed is YHVH, Elohim of my master Abraham, Who has. To withheld His kindness and truth from my master. As for me, YHVH has guided me on thebwsy to the house of my master’s brothers.”
The servant relates the tale to Laban, Rebecca’s brother.  The next morning the servant asks to be released to go. Laban and Rebecca’s mother ask if Rebecca can stay for a year or 10 months.  The servant asks them to not delay him since YHVH has made his trip successful. They decide t ask Rebecca what she wants and she requested to go. The servant And Rebecca leave.
Isaac had gone to Beer-lahai-roi “the well of the vision of life”, and in the evening he was comIng in from the field. He saw camels coming.  Rebecca asks the servant, who is the an co I g towards us? The servant tells her that is his master Isaac.  She puts on her veil and covered herself. The elf ant tellsIsaac  all the things that he had done,  and Isaac brought her into the tent of Sarah his other.  He married Rebecca, she became his wife, and he loved her and thus was Isac co colored after his mother. (Verses 62 – 67).
