The 10 healings of Yeshua in Matthew
Symbolism of those that Yeshua healed, starting in Matthew Ch 8:1. These 10 healings show the spiritual condition of the House of Israel. Each healing represents various status changes the house must go through to become a Royal Priesthood and a Kadosh nation.
Leper
The leper represents the unclean status of the House of Israel. The leper comes to Yeshua (salvation) and worships him, saying, Lord if you will you can make me clean. (Worship, praise and steadfast belief in Yeshua/YHVH heals.) Yeshua put forth His hand (extends his righteousness to you) and touched him (now most wouldn’t have done this as it would have rendered them unclean and thus forced them outside the camp) yet Yeshua touches him (Yashua shows that no matter how defiled you are, if you seek him first, he will and can cleanse and restore you) and says I will; be you clean. Immediately the man is cleansed (status change). Yeshua said to him, See that you tell no man, but go your way, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift that Moses commanded for a testimony unto them.
The leper also represents any person, man, woman or child that has become unclean due to whatever cause. It also shows that after you’ve been cleansed that you are to show thanks by offering the gift according to the books of Moses.
Centurion Solider’s servant
Yeshua (salvation) entered into Capernaum (city of comfort) and there came to him a centurion (means: leader of 100 soldiers), beseeching (urgent appeal, pray, petition) Him, and saying Lord my servant lies at home sick of the palsy grievously tormented. And Yeshua said to him, I will come and heal him. The centurion answered ad said, Lord I am not worthy that you should come under my roof: but speak the word only and my servant shall be healed. For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go and he goes; and to another, Come and he comes; and to my servant, Do this and he does it. When Yeshua heard it he marveled and said to them that followed, truly I say to you, I have not found so great faith, no not in Israel.
The centurion (leader of 100 soldiers) represents authority, how it operates and how with proper authority, it allows those under that authority to be blessed or cursed. The servant under the authority of the centurion is seriously ill, and the centurion(leader of 100 soldiers) beseeches (urgent appeals to Yeshua (salvation) to heal his ailing servant. The ailing servant represents the sick believers in Yeshua. The centurion (leader of 100 soldiers) represents Yeshua (salvation) he come to earth, as Immanuel (God with us) to teach, instruct and heal those believers that are sick. The servant of the centurion (leader of 100 soldiers) also represents the proselyte, stranger, companions of those that believe in Yeshua and follow the Torah. This is why several times in the Torah and the Tanakh that Moses and other prophets instruct the children of Israel to act righteously toward the strangers in the land, since they were also once a stranger. Meaning they had turned away from YHVH and become a stranger to HIM, HIS teaching and HIS ways. And there will be those who are strangers also, but can come to know him. Also those peoples, strangers, and companions if they lived among the Children of Israel were to observe the same commands of the Torah. The centurion also represents a type of leader who goes out and makes talmadim.
The “great faith” Yeshua speaks of about the Centurion (leader of 100 soldiers) didn’t require a sign or a wonder to believe, faithfully, steadily that Yeshua could heal his servant. He didn’t even need to see it happen, the Centurion believed that when Yeshua said He would heal his servant, then it would be done. The Centurion didn’t seek after a sign like the wicked and adulterous generation (Matt 16:4). This leader of 100 is an example of Parashat Yisro, when Moses appointed leaders of 10’s, 50’s, 100’s, and 1000’s. These are men who will trust by faith and relationship with YHVH and will not require a sign.
The Centurion’s (leader of 100 soldiers) belief also shows what we believe effects us. If you believe something bad will happen then it will, but if you believe that Yeshua will never leave you, and have trust in Him. Then you will be blessed.
Peter’s mother-in-law
Matthew 8:14
Peter’s wife’s mother was sick with fever (Definition: abnormally high body temperature. Failure in the body’s ability to regulate or dissipate heat. Infection can be the cause). Yeshua touched her hand and the fever left her, and she arose, and ministered unto them.
I’m not totally clear on this one. Peter’s, whose name means rock (Hebrew Kefa), mother in law is ill, with fever. Not sure what fever represents. Yeshua touches her hand, the specific hand isn’t mentioned here, but I think that is done intentionally. Healing her left hand would heal her judgment, healing her right hand would heal her authority/righteousness. Saying that he touched her hand, to me represents that both hands were touched and thus rendered her fully healed, both in judgment and righteousness. Once she was fully restored in judgment and authority/righteousness she arose and ministered (aided, served, and attended) to the guests in Peter’s house.
The Ruler’s Daughter/Woman with Issue of Blood
Matthew 9:18
Now when the ruler came to Yeshua his daughter was already dead. The ruler asked that Yeshua would come and lay His hand upon her so that she would live.
The ruler represents YHVH and his daughter represents, Bat Zion or the Daughter of Zion, (JUDAH). YHVH wants salvation to come to his daughter, who is already dead (Dead works, dead in YHVH, clinging to idols etc) so that Yeshua (salvation) can lay His hand (authority) upon her and she shall live. No longer be dead, doing away with dead works, following YHVH, and walking out HIS commandments.
While he was on the way to the ruler’s daughter, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him and touched the hem of his garment. For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.
The woman with the issue of blood, is Ephraim, the lost 10 tribes of Israel. Who has become unclean or rendered unclean, and has been unclean for 12 years. She is seeking healing but also she comes in search of Yeshua (salvation) to be healed. Most Christians, who have been dispersed in the nations of the world, know and understand that Yeshua is Messiah. That He heals, answers prayer but even with that knowledge we don’t understand that our Messiah is a Jew and he wants us to follow HIM in the way and the laws of the Torah, as the Torah was given to us from the Father.
The woman takes a hold of Yeshua garment(she takes hold of the fringes or tzit-tzit, because she knows that there are healing in “his wings”)and it makes her whole (she is restored by the commands of the Torah which the tzit-tzit or wings represent). Yeshua turned him about and when he saw her, he said, Daughter be of good comfort; thy faith has made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour. Because the woman took a hold of Yeshua and also what He teaches from the Torah, she has been made whole because she believes and is steady in the Torah.
When Yeshua came into the ruler’s house and saw the minstrels and the people making a noise, He said to them. Give place; for the maid is not dead but sleepeth; And they laughed him to scorn. But when the people were put forth He went in and took her by the hand and the maid arose. And the fame thereof went abroad into all that land.
The people were lamenting the death of the ruler’s daughter and mocked Yeshua when He arrived to resurrect the daughter. The minstrels and those who scorn are those who relish the demise of the ruler’s daughter. The nations against Israel desire nothing more than the complete destruction and annihilation of Israel. Yeshua comes and “puts forth the people” and takes the daughter by the hand. The daughter’s “death” is not the end of Judah or the Daughter of Zion. Once the woman with the issue of blood is healed, Yeshua can then go and heal the daughter of the ruler. Now resulting in Him taking her hand (restoring her authority) and she arose. And the fame hereof went abroad into all that land. When the woman with the issue of blood is healed, Ephraim, and the daughter of the Ruler, Judah are both fully restored and healed under the authority of Yeshua, the fame of the restoration of the whole HOUSE OF ISRAEL will go abroad through out all that land.
Two Blind Men
Matthew 9:27
And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying and saying, Thou son of David, have mercy on us. And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord. Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you. And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straitly charged them, saying See that no man know it. But they, when they were departed spread abroad his fame in all that country.
Now that we see previously, the restoration of the daughter of the ruler and the woman with the issue of blood, now we see that Yeshua encounters two blind men. Now the two men represent Judah and Ephraim, who have been restored, but still don’t see. They need to be healed together at the same time to fully see how they are to operate together as one stick, one house. Remember, whenever Yeshua or YHVH asks a question to someone, it’s not because the answer is unknown to Him, it’s to see if WE know HIS answer to that question. In order for the two blind men to be healed they BOTH EQUALLY need to believe – without wavering – that Yeshua can HEAL them. Their eyes were opened and Jesus charged them saying See that no man know it. The time to reveal the healing isn’t yet; however, they did spread throughout the land how Yeshua heals. The blindness of the two men, physically represents spiritual blindness. Pride represents blindness, when we look to ourselves, we don’t see Yeshua, and what He is doing for us. The two blind men our proud and not humble.
Dumb man possessed with a devil
Matthew 9:32
As they went out, behold (mystery), they brought to him a dumb man possessed with a devil (demon). And when the devil was cast out, the dumb spake: and the multitudes marveled, saying It was never so seen in Israel (True. Israel, when she is restored, will marvel at herself). But the Pharisees said, He casteth out devils (demons) through the prince of the devils. And Jesus (salvation) went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted and were scattered abroad as sheep having no shepherd. Then saith he unto his disciples, the harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.
It’s interesting what YHVH ties together here. The dumb man, Yashua teaching in the synagogues, and preaching the gospel, healing sickness and disease, and the compassion he has because the people have no shepherd. In this instance, YHVH isn’t addressing the world but those who say they are believers but really are not. They do not care, or have compassion for the dumb man, those possessed, those without teaching or leadership. They say he casts out demons by HaSatan, like Miriam and Aaron complained about Moses’ anointing/authority.
The religious leaders of that day (and many today) are jealous of the authority of the true shephered. The false shepherds scatter the flocks, but the true shepherds gather and restore the flock.
Man with the withered hand
Matthew 12:10
And behold (mystery), there was a man which had his hand (his naturally authority) withered (compromised). And they asked him, saying, is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath days? That they might accuse him. And he said unto them, what man shall there be among you, that shall have on e sheep and if it fall into a pit on the Sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out? How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the Sabbath days. Then saith he to the man, stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other.
This healing is a healing and a teaching combined. The Pharisees question Yeshua if it was lawful to heal on the Sabbath. This is also the 3rd healing where just one man is being healed; the leper and the dumb man possessed with a devil precede this man with the withered hand. This teaching shows that we must separate what you’ve been taught as law, when it’s actually tradition, and what YHVH actually says. So essentially Yeshua is questioning them, saying would you not fetch out your sheep if it fell into a pit on the Sabbath? Secondly, he questions them if you would do it for your sheep then wouldn’t you also do the same for your fellow brethren? Remember, YHVH or Yeshua don’t ask questions when they CLEARLY know the answer. The question is to make us question are we following TRADITION or YHVH?
By healing the man’s hand, he’s healed either his authority and/or his judgment. This is like the Peter’s mother-in-law, both the righteousness and judgment of the man is being healed. But also, it shows that by following tradition, when it’s not YHVH’s word, withers our hand (authority) to judge and be righteous. Because the Pharisees had considerable clout with the people, showing that you can perform miracles and heal on the Sabbath takes away there control and manipulation of the people. Thus restoring more power to YHVH and glory to Him. They do not care about the man’s hand. They were jealous of the authority of the true shepherd.
Man possessed with a devil, blind and dumb
Matthew 12:22
Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw. And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David? But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.
Again, Yeshua is showing the difference between TRADITION and YHVH, testing those around Him who saw the healing of this man. The Pharisees attributed the healing to the devil, while the people were amazed and were certain that the healing was done by the son of David. It’s a deeper understanding from the previous healing. Not attributing what’s of YHVH to HaSatan but also not making what YHVH does common by attributing it to man.
Canaanite Woman
Matthew 15:22
And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil. But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us. But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me. But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs. And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table. Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.
The Canaanite woman represents those not of the house of Israel, the proselytes and sojourners. They are able to be blessed by also believing in the Yeshua and worshipping him. If they turn away from their idols and walk with YHVH they are also able to receive blessing, healing and all the things stated by YHVH to Moses in Deut 28;
The child healed by Yeshua only
Matthew 17:14
And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying, Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water. And I brought him to they disciples, and they could not cure him. Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I suffer you? Bring him hither to me. And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour. Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, if ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.
I do not have a comment for this one.
