Chapter 46:
Israel descends to Egypt. The 66 people who descended to Egypt from the land of Canaan. The total 70 people.
They arrived in Goshen. Joseph goes out to meet his father, Jacob. Joseph tells his family to tell Pharaoh that they are cattlemen, since all shepherds are abhorrent to Egyptians (verse 34).
Chapter 47:
Joseph’s family tell Pharaoh that they are shepherds. He tells them they can live in the land of Goshen. Jacob blesses Pharaoh (verse 7). Pharaoh asks Jacob how old he is, he answers that he’s 130 years old (verses 8 & 9).
Jacob blesses Pharaoh again (verse 10).
The world became weary of hunger. Joseph collected all the money from the land of Egypt and the land of Canaan. Then they gave all their livestock once the money was gone. Then Joseph arose and acquired all the land and people of Egypt for Pharaoh, for every Egyptian sold his field because the famine had overwhelmed them (verse 20). Joseph resettled the land by cities. The priests received a stipend from Pharaoh and they were not resettled. Joseph imposed a statues in Egypt till this day, regarding the land of Egypt, it was Pharaoh’s for the fifth. Israel settled n Goshen, they acquired property within it and they were fruitful and multiplied greatly. (Verses 26 & 27).
