The 4th Unpardonable Transgression

Damascus “Silent is the sackcloth weaver” – Amos 1:3-5

  • Threshing the Gilead “Rocky Region” with rods of iron.
    • Punshishment: YHVH sent fire into the house of Hazael and consumed the palaces of Ben-Hadad.
    • Punishment: YHVH broke the bolt of Damascus and he eliminated inhabitants from Bikath-aven and the one who holds the scepter from Beth-Eden.  The nation of Aram will be exiled to Kir.
Gaza “the strong” – Amos 1:6-8.
  • Effecting a total exile by handing over escapees to Edom.
    • Punishment: YHVH sent fire into the wall of Gaza and it will consume it’s palaces
    • Punishment: YHVH eliminated inhabitants from Ashdod and the one who held the scepter from Ashkelon.  YHVH will turn his repeatedly against Ekron and the remnant of the Philistines will perish.
Tyre “A Rock” – Amos 1:9-10
  • For deliverying a total exile to Edom, not remembering the covenant of brothers.
    • Punishment: YHVH sent fire into the wall of Tyre and it will consume its palaces.
Edom “Red” – Amos 1:11-12
  • For pursuing his brother with the sword and suppressing his mercy; his anger slaughtered incessantly and he has kept his fury forever.
    • Punishment: YHVH sent fire into Teman and it will consume the palaces of Bozrah.
Ammon “Of my people” – Amos 1:13-15
  • For splitting open the pregnant women of Gilead in order to broaden their own border.
    • Punishment: YHVH kindled a fire in the wall of Rabbah and it will consume its palaces amidst trumpeting on the day of battle with a whirlwind on the day of the tempest.  Their king will go into exile, he and his officers together.
Moab “Of my father” – Amos 2:1-3
  • For burning the bones of the king of Edom into lime. 
    • Punishment: YHVH sent fire into Moab and it will consume the palaces of Kerioth and Moab will die in a tumult amidst trumpeting and the sound of the shofar.   YHVH eliminated any judge from its midst and he killed all of its officers along with them.
Judah “Praise” – Amos 2:4-5
  • For despising the Torah of YHVH and not observing HIs statutes;  Their falsehoods that their fathers followed have corrupted them.
    • Punishment: YHVH sent fire into Judah and it consumed the palaces of Jerusalem.
Israel “God Prevails” – Amos 2:6-16
  • For selling a righteous man for money, and a poor man for shoes.
  • They aspired the dust of the earth for the head of the poor 
  • They twist the judgment of the humble
  • A man and his father go to a maiden in order to desecrate my Holy Name.
  • They recline on pawned garments besides every altar and they drink the wine of victims they penalized in the temple of their gods.
  • YHVH destroyed the Amorite from before Israel; The Amorites height was like the height of cedar trees and who were mighty as oaks.  YHVH destroyed his fruit from above and his roots from below.  YHVH brought Israel up from the land of Egypt and led them through the wilderness for 30 years to take possession of the land of the Amorite.  
  • YHVH established some of your sons as prophets and some of your young men as Nazirites.  But the Children of Israel gave the Nazirites wine to drink and you commanded the prophets saying ‘Do not prophesy’.
    • Punishment: YHVH will encumber Israel in their place just as a wagon full of sheaves is encumbered.   Escape will elude the swift one; the strong one will not muster his strength; the mighty one will not save his soul.  He who holds the bow will not stand; the swift of foot will not save himself; the rider of the horse will not save his soul; and the bold-hearted among the mighty will flee naked on that day.
