Joshua – Land remaining to be possessed
· All the districts of the Philistines (immigrants) and all the Geshurite (proud beholder) territory.
o From Shihor (dark) that is before Egypt (land of the copts) to the border of Ekron (emigration or torn up by the roots) northward is considered to be the Canaanite’s (zealous) territory;
o Five Governors of the Philistines;
§ Gazite (the strong)
§ Ashdodite (I will spoil)
§ Ashkelonite (the fire of infamy: I shall be weighed)
§ Gittite (wine press)
§ Ekronite
§ Avvites (ruins)
o From the South all the land of the Canaanite; Mearah (cave) that belongs to the Sidonians (hunting) to Aphekah (enclosure), until the border of the Amorite (a sayer);
o Land of the Giblite (a boundary) and all the Lebanon (whiteness) toward the rising sun
o From the plain of Gad at the foot of Mount Hermon (a sanctuary) until the approach to Hamath (fortress);
o All the inhabitants of the mountain from Lebanan to Misrephoth-maim (burnings of water)
o All the Sidonians
“……I will drive them out on behalf of the Children of Israel. You have only to allot it to Israel as a heritage, as I have commanded you. So now divide this land as a heritage for the nine tribes and half the tribe of Manasseh.” Joshua 13:6
